(scroll down for English)Zaterdag 1 februari begint de derde workshop in de The Road-reeks! In deze speciale workshop geeft Pedro Ricardo Afro-Cubaanse techniek, Afro, Rumba en richten we ons ook op een diepere verkenning van body movements, ritmes, cadans en expressie op de Afro-Cubaanse manier van dansen en bewegen.
Het eerste anderhalf uur gaan we aan de slag met de Afro-Cubaanse dans. We behandelen de cultuur en leren over een aantal orisha’s.
In de tweede helft van de workshop wis het tijd voor de techniek van de moderne Cubaanse dans, zoals die wordt beoefend door Danza Contemporanea de Cuba (DCC). Het is een techniek die meerdere academische stijlen combineert met de Cubaanse wortels van de dansers die de stijl verder brengen en sensualiteit en erotiek toevoegen aan de techniek. Onder meer het gebruik van de bekken als het belangrijkste centrum van de bewegingen, de barokke stijl van de armen, de draaibewegingen, contractions, isolatie van de torso en de heupen maken de techniek uniek en typisch Cubaans.

★ The Road
De komende maanden biedt Poetic Motion de workshopreeks The Road aan. Tijdens deze workshops nemen de allerbeste gastdocenten je mee op een ontdekkingsreis langs verschillende aspecten van (salsa)dans. Je kunt meedoen aan de hele reeks, of de workshops kiezen die jou het meest aanspreken. Maar: de reeks is zo opgesteld om je blik op dans te verbreden en je mentaal en fysiek te ontwikkelen, dus durf buiten je eigen comfortzone te stappen!

★ Pedro Ricardo Henry
Pedro Ricardo Henry startte zijn carrière als danser in 2011 bij de National Dance Company of Contemporary Cuba. In 2013 verhuisde hij naar Europa om bij het Ballet van de Opéra National du Rhin in Mulhouse te dansen. Daarna danste hij in de musical West Side Story in het theater in Aachen en was hij solist bij het Eurotopia-project van het Freiburg theater in Duitsland. Hij is nu onderdeel van het SALLY Dansgezelschap Maastricht en werkte samen met Krisztina de Chatel.
Pedro is nooit zijn Cubaanse dansroots vergeten en mocht op veel plekken in Europa lesgeven (Finland, Hongarije, Frankrijk, Nederland, Spanje) om zijn stijl en passie voor de Cubaanse folklore te delen. Nu is het tijd om die te introduceren aan de dansers van Poetic Motion!

In this special workshop, Pedro Ricardo will teach Afro Cuban technique, Modern Cuban Dance, Afro, Rumba and also focus on a deep exploration of body movements, rhythms, cadence and expression in the Afro-Cuban way of dancing and moving. In the first 1,5 hour we will learn about the Afro Cuban Dance. We will learn about the culture and a couple of orisha’s.
In the second part of the workshop, it is time for the Technique of Modern Cuban Dance as a training and training code endorsed by Danza Contemporanea de Cuba (DCC). It is a technique that brings together various academic styles, taken to the Cuban roots where the nourishment of the contemporary continues, giving a touch of sensuality and eroticism. Amongst others, using the pelvis as the motor center, the baroque style of the arms, circles, mastery of the pelvic region in contractions, the detachment of the torso from the hips make this technique something unique and very Cuban.

★ The Road
The upcoming months, Poetic Motion offers the workshop series The Road. During these workshops, the best dance teachers will take you on a journey to multiple aspects of (salsa)dance. You can partipate in the whole series, or choose the workshops that appeal to you the most. But: the series is built to help you broaden your perception of dance and to develop yourself mentally and physically, so don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone!

★ Pedro Ricardo Henry
Pedro Ricardo Henry started as a dancer at the National Dance Company of Contemporary Cuba. In 2013, he made the switch to Europe to dance at the Ballet of the Opéra National du Rhin in Mulhouse. After that, he danced in the musical West Side Story in the Theatre in Aachen and worked as a soloist on the Eurotopia project of the Freiburg Theatre in Germany. He is now a member of the SALLY Dance Company Maastricht and danced for Krisztina De Chatel.
Pedro never lost his Cuban roots of dance and had the pleasure of teaching in several European countries (Finland, Hungary, France, The Netherlands, Spain) to share his style and passion of Cuban folklore. Now it is time to introduce it to the dancers at Poetic Motion Dance Company!
